Exploring Pre-1990 SLR Cameras: Solid Options Without the High Price Tag

In the world of analogue photography, SLR cameras from before 1990 offer a beautiful balance of mechanical reliability and classic photographic control. At our shop, we focus on the midrange gems—cameras that are affordable, well-built, and a joy to shoot with. We leave the overpriced collector’s items to others and keep our shelves stocked with cameras that were made to be used, not just displayed.

Brands like Zenit and Revueflex offered durable, no-frills cameras with full manual control, perfect for learning the craft or reconnecting with the basics. The Zenit E and Revueflex 3000SL are great examples—simple, solid, and surprisingly capable.

Yashica and Chinon brought more refinement into the picture. With models like the Yashica FX-3 or Chinon CE-4, you get better ergonomics, light metering, and a more fluid shooting experience without breaking the bank. These cameras often came with excellent lenses that hold up even today.

Fujica, Fujifilm’s analogue arm back in the day, made stylish and underrated SLRs like the Fujica ST801, with its distinctive design and M42 lens mount compatibility. It’s a favorite among those who want something a little different without diving into rare or overly expensive gear.

Even Canon, while known for high-end systems, produced fantastic midrange SLRs like the Canon AV-1—accessible, automatic exposure for ease, but still built around solid optics and quality craftsmanship.

We believe great photography doesn’t require premium price tags. That’s why our focus is on reliable, midrange analogue SLRs that offer the real shooting experience—mechanical clicks, manual focus, and the anticipation of developing film. These cameras were built to last, and they’re ready for their next adventure in your hands.

Prixes range between 30 and 200 EUR.
